Who is Ulo Famutimi?

My first taste of NBA was at Mandaue Sports complex when Rodman and some other NBA legends came here to play and showcase some hardcore basketball versus our very own legends with the likes of Allan Caidic, Ato Agustin and many others.

I was struck by the no.23 player ( nope its not his airness) a 6’5 190lb player with acrobatic dunks and shooting prowess.. he was active in defense and knows how to pass… I could hear all the oohhhss and ahhhss of all the shouting fans in the coliseum with all the alley ops and windmill jams..

Olumuyima (“Olu”) Famutimi believed to have a 45 inch vertical jump… raise in Canada and proud alum of Arkansas University his best year was his second year were he averaged about 9.6 ppg and 3.4 rpg joined in the NBA’s developmental league under The supervision of NBA’s legend Daryll Dawkins and a team mate of our own Filipino pride Vince Hizon. He plays defense well though his still raw but he knows how to play the game and adjust pretty well.

The San Antonio Spurs signed the young promising star last September 20 in the 2006-2007 season as a free agent and was under a brilliant and hardworking coach Gregg Popovich. Together with the All time all star Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker. But unfortunately things didn’t work out as it used to be and Ulo got waived with just two weeks to go before the start of the season. I thought I’ll never saw this guy play again but I was elated to see him showcase his ware in FIBA Americas where he scored 17 points against team USA but stumbled on the 3rd and 4th quarter where team Canada lost to USA in a one sided victory. Ulo showed a lot of promising moves in the court and I sure do hope scouts will notice this untapped talent. Anyways he can always have a spot if he plays here in the PBA. Many teams would like to have him and of course we can watch more windmills and alley ops… a treat for all hardcore basketball fans… like me…

The future star to watch
